Humayun's Tomb

About This Location

Humayun's Tomb was the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent, built in 1572 AD and later serving as the prototype for the Taj Mahal. The perfectly symmetrical Charbagh (four-quadrant garden), the double-domed octagonal mausoleum, and the intricate red sandstone and white marble inlay work create stunning architectural frames. The wide pathways and water channels of the garden create perfect symmetrical compositions.
