About This Location

Golconda Fort, 11 km west of Hyderabad, is a magnificent 16th-century citadel of the Qutb Shahi dynasty — once one of the most impregnable fortresses in India. The fort's unique acoustics (a handclap at the base is audible at the top 1km away), eight gates, baoli (step-well), palaces, and panoramic views of Hyderabad create a rich photography environment. The 400-year-old tamarind and banyan trees within the fort add to its atmosphere.
